Aanartanam- An evening of dance encompassing choreographic works of Sharmila Mukerjee. The Odissi ensemble will begin with a preview of the dance ballet “Sookshma” (an environment centric Kannada folk tale) Abhinaya, an integral part of any classical dance form will also be an important aspect of the evening.

Sharmila Mukerjee’s choregraphies so far revolved around different shades of womanhood through “Kaikeyi” and “Sookshma”. Concurrent explorations have been with the different ragas and rhythm (Pallavi) and lyrical renditions like Kalidasa’s “Grisma Geetam”. The evening recital attempts to take the audience through all her works of innovation. The performance will conclude with the traditional “moksha” in which the dancers seek salvation or liberation from the cycle of birth and death and become one with the universe.
