It all happened 100 years ago. In the province of Kaarithara in the Royal state of Travancore, in the village of Theyyaadimukku of Thirunankodu principality; the epicentre of the entire happening; a saga of vengeance was getting simmered up. When the main Vishahaari (local toxicologist) of Theyyadimukku, Amboori Neelandan decided to take on his sworn rival Theyyaadi Kumaran; the son of Theyyaadi Maathu; the most beloved master who taught Neelandan the treatment for poison ingestion, the village witnessed a dual unseen before. Neelandan could not let Kumaran to claim the legacy of the treatment system as natural heir. Anger, frustration, betrayal and solitude converge and transform Neelandan’s revenge as a simmering story of vengeance. It is “Thushagni”, the husk fire. It may look concealed or even lit off, but within deep, it exists. The fine fragments of husk fire keep the power within to get ablaze and char down the enemy. Neelandan walked down all the forbidden alleys, knocked all mysterious doors, amassed fathom deep knowledge and sharpened the best crafted weapon in his arsenal. Kumaran could never stand a chance when the vengeance is showered on him like hellfire. CARBON emerged from late nights with Robert Munroe and far too early mornings with black coffee and binaural beats. Thoughts of consciousness and Seth Material melded into memories of Isaac Albéniz’ Asturias and Chick Corea’s Spain. Paco de Lucia on vinyl sounds good in the rain. New songs, old stirrings. Perhaps you remember “We are stardust, we are golden, billion year old carbon…" Or, Craig Santos Perez’s riff on Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVII “I love you like this because we'll only survive / in the nitrogen rich compost of our embrace, / so close that your emissions of carbon are mine, / so close that your sea rises with my heat.” All in all, we walk in beauty. Looking forward to seeing you!Read More
